Canines of all sizes can romp and run unleashed on the field of Fair Park’s historic Cotton Bowl for the 6th Annual Dog Bowl from 1 – 5 p.m. Sunday, May 6, 2012.

Teeming with tail-wagging fun, the Dog Bowl will feature an animal-only agility course, a pet/owner look-alike contest, splash pools, demos, giveaways, exhibits, music and more. Trainers, veterinarians and pet product vendors will be on site inside the Cotton Bowl, plus local dog clubs, rescue groups and other animal welfare organizations will be on site with adoptable dogs outside the Cotton Bowl at the Woofstock “tail” gating zone.

Do something special for your four-legged fur ball, and head to Cotton Bowl Stadium at Fair Park for the free, sixth-annual Dog Bowl from 1 – 5 p.m. Sunday, May 6, when Dallas’ most historic football field will transform into a super-duper dog park for canines of all sizes to romp and run unleashed!

Enjoy pooch-pleasing fun including an animal-only agility course, a pet/owner look-alike contest, demos, splash pools, misting tents, giveaways, exhibits, music and more. Talk to trainers, veterinarians and pet product vendors, and learn the latest tips and trends in the tail-wagging world. Also check out local dog clubs, rescue groups and other animal welfare organizations with adoptable dogs at the Woofstock “tail” gating zone outside the entrance gate of the Cotton Bowl.

Misting ponds and giant “dip and sip” dog bowls will keep canines cool and quenched, while humans will have the opportunity to enjoy refreshments (including beer) and other concessions for sale.

Admission is free. The City of Dallas charges $10 for parking within the gates of Fair Park, or ride the DART Rail Green Line to the Fair Park Station. (Non-service animals are allowed on DART only if they are in crates.) Owners will be asked to observe all current City of Dallas Dog Park policies while at Fair Park.

The sixth annual Dog Bowl is hosted by Friends of Fair Park, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

The Dallas Film Society Announces 15 Titles for the Dallas International Film Festival in Official Selections

The Dallas International Film Festival recently announced the first fifteen films chosen to screen at the sixth edition of the festival (April 12 – 22, 2012). The lineup includes two world premieres and nine Texas premieres.

Films entered into the narrative feature and documentary competition will have the chance to win an unrestricted cash prize of $10,000 per category and those entered into the Environmental Visions Competition will have the chance to win a cash prize of $10,000 from Whole Foods. The Embrey Family Foundation returns with a $10,000 prize to bestow the Silver Heart Award to an individual or film for their dedication to fighting injustices and/or creating social change for the improvement of humanity.
